Internet Marketing Gathering in Malaysia
This week, I received an email from Stuart Tan calling for an Internet Marketing Gathering in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at his office in Taman Tun Dr Ismail on Monday evening.
Stuart brought along a few other Malaysian Internet Marketers like Edmund Loh, Vince Tan and Simon Leung from USA to share their internet marketing experences with the gathered group.
The gathering began with a short introduction from Stuart and the other internet marketers, followed by a brief intro by all attendees present.
Then Stuart started off a Q & A session with Edmund, Simon and Vince so that the attendees can get to know more about them.
Topics covered were:
- List building;
- Private Label Rights;
- Public Domain;
- Google Adwords, keyword traffic and quality score;
- Systems and processes;
- Search Engine Optimization;
- Social media;
- Video sites
After the session, some of us went off to have a late night snack with Stuart, Vince, Simon and Edmund as they haven’t had dinner after a four-hour long car drive from Singapore to reach Kuala Lumpur.
Overall, it was a small gathering of get-to-know experienced Internet Marketers session sharing what they know and I benefited alot from this. Stuart said this will definitely not be the last of these types of gathering but more in the coming months.

Great Successful Marketing: No Thinking Required
Great Successful Marketing: No Thinking Required! by Josef Katz
An extract from that article that says:
Let’s face it. People are lazy.
If given the choice between thinking through a problem and watching TV, most people would opt for the TV. There is nothing wrong with some down time and this is not a judgment about you or your customers. We are all lazy by nature. Add to this how busy people are these days and you have a tough challenge if you want people to listen and act upon your marketing.
To create successful marketing, you need to think about your target customer and their mental state. What is going to make them take action? All good marketing has a call to action. What do you want your customers to do? Don’t make them guess. Your customers are not mind readers. Tell them what they should do. If you don’t, they will likely do nothing at all or move on to the next task at hand. But if you tell them what you want them to do and make it easy for them to do so, a percentage of them will follow your directions.
Here are a couple of tips for you to think about when putting together your marketing messages:
* Use active words
Internet marketing terms means Good Copywriting
* Repeat your directions/call to action
Internet marketing terms means using Email Marketing and tools like autoresponder
* Make sure it is easy to follow the directions
Internet marketing term means give your subscribers easy to follow step by step instructions on what action you want them to take
* Create a sense of urgency
Internet marketing term means give your subscribers some special offers now and then and give them a time limit to act like now

Why Attend Seminars and Workshops and Outcome
Why do we spend endless amount of money investing on seminars and workshops to learn about online internet marketing?
I can tell you it has not been fun attending 3 full days in an enclosed conference room with hundreds other people there. Why do I go through that pain to learn more?
I pay and invested in these seminars and workshops to help me gain focused knowledge, to shorten my learning process, to get to learn systematically and to spur my business further.
I have written an article about the three (3) different types of people who attends seminars and workshops and shares the outcome of these people.
I estimate about 5-10% of seminar and workshop attendees falls into the Confident category, 70-80% falls into the Confused category and lastly, 10% of them would fall into Coward category.

Where Do I Start in Internet Marketing?
I am been asked this question often by friends and students who want to start an online business in internet marketing. Many of whom I have spoken to have spent money attending seminars presented by experienced online marketers from Canada, USA, Australia and the UK. These friends and students have continued to spend money buying more information products online. In all, this whole period and exercise of learning internet marketing business takes about 1- 2 years.
And, all this time, some would have created their own websites using HTML, some would have bought ready-made templates, some bought affiliate programs that comes with ready-made sites or some became Affiliate Marketers promoting information products not of their own creation.
And 90% of all these seminar attendees does not even have a website or a blog yet. These students have learned what internet marketing is all about but many have failed to put these concepts to work. Majority of these students have a full-time job and has very little time to devote to their online business. Very few have attempted going full-time on this. And for those who spent lots of time and effort in it, reaps the profit.
But Where do a Newbie start in Internet Marketing?
It all starts with having your own Website or a Blog.
As long as you have not started implementing your own web site or a web page or a blog, you have not even begin to step into the internet marketing arena, let along play by the rules of the game.
Step 1: When you have your own web site or a web page or a simple blog, you would have taken the ‘first step’ into the online marketing business world.
Step 2: You would have learned ways to upload your content to your web site by this time. Content can be in the form of a Post, an Article, a Video Clip or an Image.
Step 3: When you have an adequate amount of content or web pages in your site, you want to attract visitors to come to visit your web pages and read your content. Drive Traffic to your website. Online and Offline strategies.
Step 4: You can experiment with the various traffic generation strategies you have learned. Implement and put them to good use.
Step 5: Now, you have a website and a hosting company, you want to communicate to your list. List Building or build your own name list. Get an Autoresponder service. Write messages to your list. Send them valuable information.
Step 6: Find out from your list of subscribers (after they have opt-in) what problems are they having that they would like you to solve for them.
Step 7: If you do not have your own product, them go online to find a suitable product to meet their needs.
Step 8: Lastly, but not least, track your web site. Go and get the free tracking tool from Google Analytics and insert the tracking codes to your web site. Go back to check on the tracking reports and get surprised by the analysis.
Starting an online internet marketing business is a Learning Process that comes with Experience, involves a lot of Time and Effort, in addition to attending Seminars. Put what you learn into practice and you will find yourself heading towards the right path.
Focus on your first website of your chosen niche market and find out what the problems are. If there are problems, identify them and fix it. If it cannot be fixed, move on and find another niche market to work on.
