How Do You Analyze Sites with Google Trends

Google Trends is not the latest of Google’s new gadgets but it has been around for some time. I use Google Trends charts to analyze future and upcoming trends for websites, blog or events. Of course, there are various way to analyze these trends from the charts.
Basically, all you need is to type in a keyword or phrase you want, in the Search box. I have typed in keywords ‘wordpress’ to compare trends with ‘bloggers’ below.

Wordpress’s trend is indicated in Blue and Bloggers’s trend is indicated in Red.
Wordpress’s trend has been moving upwards since 2004. That means Wordpress has been growing in popularity and has widespread use as a blogging platform.
These trends are broken down further into Regions, Cities and Languages.
Interestingly, I see Indonesia being the top region to adopt Wordpress platform, follow by Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. All from Asian countries. Similar trends are found for Cities.
What is surprising is the Indonesian language tops the list in Languages, followed by Russian and English as third.
How do you interpret these trends when you use Google Trends?

Wordpress Blogging Seminar at Crystal Crown Hotel
Actually I have not been posting much here recently. I have been busy preparing my Wordpress Blogging Seminar on Saturday 4 August 2007 at the Crystal Crown Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
We have had a number of blogging seminars in July 2007 at a training center but we decided to try it out at a hotel this month. And so we did.
The turn out was rather unexpected. I made arrangements for 25 seats but we had more than 30 callers who registered via SMS. Steven presented on this day and I took the role of Registration. Majority of the attendees were over 30 years above but we had a few younger ones too.
Check out these pictures. And by the way, I will be having 2 blogging seminars per month and we advertise them in The Star Metro or The Sun papers. So look out for them now and then, if you want to attend.

How To Make Money Adsense Formula Exposed
Many beginners online marketers would like to know how to make money using AdSense formula. My simple Adsense formula has been exposed below in a formula that any online marketers should know.
Money = sum ( [Price Per Click] X [Number of Clicks] )
Logically speaking, if you want to make some Adsense money, you have to either increase the number of clicks or the price per click. If you do one or the other, per the formula above, you can make more money from the program.
A. Increase the Number Of Clicks to Make More Adsense Money
Increase the number of clicks on your ads is the most obvious strategy that will make more money for you. You can look at two successful methods to boost the number of clicks:
1. Driving more traffic for your web site,
2. Make your ads more clickable and position them at the right place.
Driving traffic takes time and efforts. It‘s also a lot of hard work. There are several techniques that you can use to generate more traffic to your web site and hence make more Adsense money. I reveal several of these techniques you can use below:
* Submit your web site to search engine and optimize your web site for search engine.
* Increase link popularity by link exchange, article marketing, directory submission and press release.
* Paid Advertising through classified advertising, banner advertising or search engine advertising.
* Participate in forums/groups related to the content of your web site.
* Add comments to other blogs.
B. Make your ads more clickable is another method to increase your earnings.
This is relatively easy to achieve because you can adjust your ad format almost immediately. I suggest you do the following adjustments to your ad format to improve your click through rates (CTR):
* Make them more noticeable by positioning your Adsense ads on top of your Adsense page.
* Google states that the most effective ad formats are 336×280 larger rectangle, the 300×250 inline rectangle, and the 160×600 wide skyscraper. However you are advised to choose the best ad format that works for your web site. This requires tracking and testing.
* Create a custom palette that best suites your web site. In general, you can follow the following settings:
% Border color : no border or background color of your website
% Background color : background color of your website
% Link color : color of your links
% URL color : black
% Text color : black or color of your main content
C. Target the Higher-Paying Keywords To Make More Adsense Money
You can create unique, relevant and quality contents that target at the higher-paying keywords to increase your average price per click (CPC). Higher CPC means that you can make more money even the CTR remains unchanged. You should find out which keyword variations for a topic pay more. Often the more specialized variations and phrases pay more than the generic terms.
You can increase your CPC by reducing the occurrence of lower-paying ads. You can use Adsense competitive filter mechanism to filter out the ads that you don’t want to be shown on your web site. It is suggested by others that showing fewer ads on a page will result in higher-paying ads displayed on your web site. Many publishers reported that they make more Adsense money if they remove ads completely from pages with few or no clicks. Again you have to test whether this strategy works in favor of you or not.
As you can see, it involves a lot of hard work if you want to make extra Google AdSense money. You need to put in your time and effort to make it happen. Your patience in the long run will bring in the extra $$$ you want for your website.

Understanding Adsense Jargon
Page Impressions
An “impression” is how many times your web page loads onto a real computer screen. If 30 people looked at your page on their computers, your Page Impression is 30.
Clicks
The actual number of times someone clicks on your ads.
Page CTR
CTR stands for Click Through Rate, a common measurement index for internet-based advertising. CTR is the ratio of people who clicked on your ads to the number who did not, and is calculated using the two set of data:
CTR = (Clicks / Page Impressions) x 100
Page CPM
CPM is used by older internet-based advertising models, in which you pay an advertiser a fixed sum of money for showing 1000 impressions of your ad. The reason why this is included in your Adsense reports is because some advertisers still use the CPM model, and you can compare your Adsense performance with this figure to determine if you are better off showing CPM based ads instead.
Earnings
This tells you how much money you just made today.
