Great Successful Marketing: No Thinking Required

Great Successful Marketing: No Thinking Required! by Josef Katz

An extract from that article that says:

Let’s face it. People are lazy.

If given the choice between thinking through a problem and watching TV, most people would opt for the TV. There is nothing wrong with some down time and this is not a judgment about you or your customers. We are all lazy by nature. Add to this how busy people are these days and you have a tough challenge if you want people to listen and act upon your marketing.

To create successful marketing, you need to think about your target customer and their mental state. What is going to make them take action? All good marketing has a call to action. What do you want your customers to do? Don’t make them guess. Your customers are not mind readers. Tell them what they should do. If you don’t, they will likely do nothing at all or move on to the next task at hand. But if you tell them what you want them to do and make it easy for them to do so, a percentage of them will follow your directions.

Here are a couple of tips for you to think about when putting together your marketing messages:

* Use active words
Internet marketing terms means Good Copywriting

* Repeat your directions/call to action
Internet marketing terms means using Email Marketing and tools like autoresponder

* Make sure it is easy to follow the directions
Internet marketing term means give your subscribers easy to follow step by step instructions on what action you want them to take

* Create a sense of urgency
Internet marketing term means give your subscribers some special offers now and then and give them a time limit to act like now

Reno Couple Blame Internet For Neglect

RENO, Nev. - A couple who authorities say were so obsessed with the Internet and video games that they left their babies starving and suffering other health problems have pleaded guilty to child neglect.

The children of Michael and Iana Straw, a boy age 22 months and a girl age 11 months, were severely malnourished and near death last month when doctors saw them after social workers took them to a hospital, authorities said. Both children are doing well and gaining weight in foster care, prosecutor Kelli Ann Viloria told the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Michael Straw, 25, and Iana Straw, 23, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts each of child neglect. Each faces a maximum 12-year prison sentence.

Viloria said the Reno couple were too distracted by online video games, mainly the fantasy role-playing “Dungeons & Dragons” series, to give their children proper care.

“They had food; they just chose not to give it to their kids because they were too busy playing video games,” Viloria told the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Police said hospital staff had to shave the head of the girl because her hair was matted with cat urine. The 10-pound girl also had a mouth infection, dry skin and severe dehydration.

Her brother had to be treated for starvation and a genital infection. His lack of muscle development caused him difficulty in walking, investigators said.

The Straws have been given public defenders. Jeremy Bosler, head of the county public defender’s office, declined to comment to The Associated Press on Saturday.

Michael Straw is an unemployed cashier, and his wife worked for a temporary staffing agency doing warehouse work, according to court records. He received a $50,000 inheritance that he spent on computer equipment and a large plasma television, authorities said.

While child abuse because of drug addiction is common, abuse rooted in video game addiction is rare, Viloria said.

Last month, experts at an American Medical Association meeting backed away from a proposal to designate video game addiction as a mental disorder, saying it had to be studied further. Some said the issue is like alcoholism, while others said there was no concrete evidence it’s a psychological disease.

Patrick Killen, spokesman for Nevada Child Abuse Prevention, said video game addiction’s correlation to child abuse is “a new spin on an old problem.”

“As we become more technologically advanced, there’s more distractions,” Killen said. “It’s easy for someone to get addicted to something and neglect their children. Whether it’s video games or meth, it’s a serious issue, and (we) need to become more aware of it.”

Transformers

I went with my family last weekend to watch the new movie Transformers.

My son loves the idea of machines transforming into robots and vice versa. He actually bought an expensive Transformer last year as his birthday present. He had since stopped playing with it, until the new movie came out.

Our favourite characters were Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Iron Head and Megatron.

We loved the movie and are amazed by the creative digital works on the production of those action figures on the screen. We were mesmerised by the the 2 hours movie and we plan to watch it again.
